“Mad Men”, the sexy, stylized and provocative drama that has won countless awards, will broadcast its second season on Sundance Channel starting 25th October 2012 (Thursday) at 11pm.
Of the reception so far, Matthew Weiner (“Mad Men” creator and executive producer) said, “Mad Men has found a global audience that continues to enjoy the adventures of Madison Avenue in the Sixties. It’s terrific news that the show has found a home on Sundance Channel internationally. We continue to be humbled and amazed at the wonderful reception we get from fans of the show all over the world.”
Set in early 1960s New York, the daring drama follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising.
At the end of season one, creative director Don Draper (played by Jon Hamm) is blackmailed by ambitious young account executive Pete Campbell (played by Vincent Kartheiser) and in the process, Don’s true identify is finally revealed. After making a powerful presentation using photos of his own family in happier times, Don returns to an empty house on the evening before Thanksgiving 1960.
Don’s secretary Peggy (played by Elisabeth Moss), who has been promoted to junior copywriter, ignores her expanding waistline and looks forward to a bright future until severe stomach pains prove to be labor and she unexpectedly gives birth. The road ahead also remains uncertain for the other staffers at advertising agency Sterling Cooper in the wake of a wild after-hours election night party and the defeat of their candidate, Richard Nixon.
In the second season, Mad Men will continue to blur the lines between truth and lies, perception and reality. The world is moving in a new direction – can Sterling Cooper keep up? Meanwhile the private life of Don Draper becomes complicated in a new way. What is the cost of his secret identity?
