The first of the music videos for Taeyang’s new album, “RISE”, has been released!
Titled, “Eyes, Nose, Lips”, the song was written by Taeyang, renowned YG Entertainment producer and ex-1TYM member Teddy, DEE.P, and Rebecca Johnson. The song is one of the nine new tracks on his comeback album and also the title track. Surprisingly, Taeyang has chosen a slow and emotionally powerful song for his title track, which shows off his vocal prowess. We haven’t heard Taeyang fully utilise his (solo) singing talent since the days of “Wedding Dress” in 2010 so we can’t complain!
We hear that YG Entertainment boss Yang Hyun Suk had a part in making the music video for the ballad, sharing his ideas and concepts for the song. And you will see later that it’s pretty straightforward and simple, with no dancers, no actual props (Taeyang is topless!) or elaborate music video set, save for a billboard that eventually bursts into flames at the end of the video.
Judging from the way the song was done, one can safely say that he has since achieved his dream of becoming something beyond a K-Pop idol (read: BIGBANG) i.e. a progressive R&B artiste. But don’t just take it from us. Watch the music video and judge for yourselves:
Taeyang will be only promoting one title track, although there will be two other music videos for “1AM” and “Beautiful”. Go here to purchase Taeyang’s new album via iTunes.
