From major performances from the likes of Katy Perry, John Legend, Lorde, Shakira, and even Michael Jackson, the 2014 Billboard Music Awards set Las Vegas on fire earlier today. This year, the award show attendees were treated to epic “live” performances of some of the world’s favourite artistes, starting with Katy Perry, who set the fireworks off at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
She performed remotely from the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena during the awards ceremony and even invited a shocked fan who was celebrating her birthday to join her onstage. Her “Birthday” song was topped off with Katy Perry flying away from a spinning cake and riding a zipline complete with colourful balloons over the audience.
And that’s not to say that we had expected any less from the quirky songstress anyway.
The best performance at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards was hands down the very special guest appearance from the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. He completely ruled the awards show with a hologram performance to “Slave to the Rhythm,” a song from Jackson’s new posthumous album “Xscape,” along with a plethora of background dancers, beaming lights, and fire blasts.
It was easily the biggest moment in the history of the Billboard Music Awards. Watch:
How does anyone top that, right?
