It’s that time of the week again, it’s #ThrowbackThursday time!
This week on Hype’s #ThrowbackThursday, we have decided to go with Enter Sandman by Metallica! Released in 1991, Enter Sandman was the first single released from their eponymous fifth album, Metallica. Written by Kirk Hammett, James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, Enter Sandman was written with the concept that deals with a child’s nightmares.
Known as one of the founding big four of thrash metal alongside Slayer, Megadeath and Anthrax, Metallica was formed in 1981 and their single Enter Sandman is one of their most played songs, having been performed live by the band 1,112 times. Enter Sandman also achieved platinum certification for more than 1 million copies shipped in the United States, gaining sales of over 22 million copies for the album and taking the band to worldwide recognition and popularity.
Hype. My’s writer Bryna Kaur can certainly vouch for all the hype around Enter Sandman as she grew up listening to Metallica and was lucky enough to catch them perform twice in 2013 – once in Malaysia and once in Singapore. According to her, the crowd was insane, the band put on a show that was off the hook but the level of energy was taken to a whole new level when Metallica played Enter Sandman.
Here’s Enter Sandman by Metallica. Happy Thursday everyone!
