According to sources, Singapore’s nightlife brand The Butter Factory is pretty much battered-out. It was reported that the Singapore-based franchise holders have decided to terminate their franchise agreement with Malaysian operator JV Entertainment.
Announced in a press release today, the termination of the agreement was due to ”numerous breaches by JVE of the franchise agreement”. These included “breaches of non-competition clauses and breaches that The Butter Factory Group views as impairing its long-standing reputation, goodwill, value and operational standards”.
Located at Jalan Kia Peng at the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the double-storey nightclub immediately became an entertainment destination, when it first launched in August 2013. The deal is said to have costed SGD$2.45million.
It’s Executive Chairman, Ms Tay Eu-Yen said that the company was protecting their brand by terminating the Kuala Lumpur franchise. ”We do not see it as a failure on our part to sustain a franchise. We continue to look forward to future franchises,” she added.
