If you’re having trouble finding a place where you can have an elegant meal, enjoy an after dinner cognac and cigar and when the night wears on and your mood sets in, to dance the night away to the hottest music around the globe, fret no more. Bankers Room promises to add a touch of class to KL’s vibrant nightlife by ensuring that you can fulfill your every indulgent wish at its ultra-chic new premises. Tucked away from the madding crowds at Jalan P.Ramlee and Changkat Bukit Bintang, Bankers Room’s private location above the Conlay Club in Jalan Kia Peng and its huge secured private carpark makes it ideal as a one-stop destination for dining, relaxing and partying.
Bankers Room may look unassuming from the exterior but therein lies part of its charm. Enter through its doors and you will find yourself in an elegant and refined space that exudes style. From plush furniture and ambient lighting to an incredible glass walk-in wine cellar, the venue is well placed to cater to the more discerning guest tired of the same old fare. Encompassing 8,000 square feet of functional floor space, the venue has a comfortable 300 pax capacity with a large island bar, stage and runway, and an impressive LED screen.
The cozy lounge with its comfortable sofas is the perfect place to spend a relaxing evening after the stresses of a challenging workday, sipping a glass of your favourite tipple from the selection of single malt whiskies, signature cocktails, decadent champagnes and and extensive list of exclusive wines. If you really want to let your hair down, in-house deejays spin their magic from 11pm onwards, spinning the best of commercial dance with weekly guest deejays from among KL’s finest, gracing the decks. A significant feature of the venue is the stage with a long runway that is purpose-built to host fashion events.
What really sets apart Bankers Room though is the gastronomical delights put together by their highly experienced resident Executive Chef Candy Han. Combining elements of European cuisine with a touch of Asian influence, adventurous diners will be spoilt for choice from an array of dishes ranging from Belgian Mariniere Blue Mussels and French Duck Confit to the Japanese-flavoured Unagi Mentaiki Pizza. You can even request a personalized tasting menu from the Chef, who will prepare some of the restaurant’s signature dishes both, on and off the menu that is sure to satiate your senses. The 60-seater restaurant is also open for lunch and high-tea, which should appeal to the corporate types in the vicinity.
In fact, that’s the rationale behind the moniker. “The name Bankers Room was coined with reference to being located within the financial and business district of the city. We want to provide a comfortable and refined place for the discerning clientele to indulge in elegant food, relax with their favourite single malt and entertain their clients or party with their friends,” said Jessica Lam, Bankers Room’s General Manager.
The venue recently celebrated its Grand Opening with a three day exclusive preview for friends and media. Guests were feted to dinner from a specially put-together menu featuring some of the best of what the restaurant has to offer. Celebrity chefs Sherson Lai and Johnny Fua, most recently seen in the Asian Food Channel’s original production Great Dinners Of The World, were on hand to showcase the art of dining through innovative food pairings with a wide selection of wines and spirits. The three-day extravaganza also saw fashion shows from some of the city’s hottest designers with Key Ng and Nigel Chia hosting the first day, followed by Beatrice Looi and Vinie Tee on the second day and Justin Yap, Hayden Koh and Keith Kee Couture featuring their collections on the final day.
And if that wasn’t enough, revelers were then entertained by a triumvirate of beautiful guest deejays spinning the hottest tracks this side of dance till the wee hours of the morning. Again, in an effort to spread out the festivities, the tantalizingly named Pussy Catz performed on the first day, sexy Cecibabe from Hong Kong on the second day and the delectable Alexis G brought proceedings to a close on the final day.
