One of the biggest and most star-studded MTV award nights took place in Frankfurt just hours ago, leaving behind a throng of happy Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift fans. Both stars took home three MTV Europe Music Awards respectively for some of the categories that they were nominated for.
For Taylor, the categories were “Best Female”, “Best Live”, and “Best Look”. Justin, on the other hand, took home honours for “Best Male” for the second year in a row, “Best Pop”, and “Best World Stage”.
Some Rihanna fans were also left reeling with shock when the singer failed to pick up a single award out of the six categories that she was nominated for.
On a lighter (and K-Pop-pier) note, this year’s MTV EMAs was made explosive when horse-riding-dance star took the stage and performed “Oppa Gangnam Style” live in front of an audience of 7,000 people. Sporting a sparkly blue jacket, Psy officially created history and became the first South Korean artiste to have ever performed at the MTV EMAs.
When interviewed backstage, he said, “This is beautiful. This is very first time to participate, perform, be nominated, as an Asian artiste, as a Korean artiste, so I don’t know what to say”. (Source)
Psy then took home his first ever MTV EMA award for “Best Video”. Didn’t we once say that it was a hostile takeover? Props to Psy for putting K-Pop on the map!
