River Safari is Asia’s first and only river-themed wildlife park, and is the newest addition to Wildlife Reserves Singapore’s portfolio of award-winning parks. Occupying 12 hectares, it houses one of the world’s largest collections of freshwater animals. The park is home to over 150 plant species and 5,000 animal specimens representing 300 animal species.
On 28 Nov 2013, guests in their safari gear flooded into The Bee at Publika, for the official launch of River Safari in Singapore. The entire event space was clad in Safari-themed decorations, along with a 3D photo wall which allowed guests to take photos that liken a real life safari cruise. The hashtag for the night was #RiverSafari which led to an interesting lineup of photos on social media by guests.
The party began with electropop music by DJ Darren Ashley, while guests occupied themselves with endless photography sessions. Drinks and canapés were served as guests educated themselves on the various animal fun facts displayed throughout the event space. Jinny Boy was the “clawsome” emcee of the night, engaging the crowd with interactive activities such as stage games which enabled them to walk away with limited edition Kai Kai and Jia Jia plushies – Singapore’s beloved panda bears.
“In Singapore, we toast to the year-end with jovial festivities and mirthful celebrations. Every year, we have a smorgasbord of activities such as theatre performances, musicals, grand festivities celebrations, fireworks, et cetera for visitors from all walks of life. So make sure you pack your bags and get the whole family to the roaring city of Singapore one of these weekends for an enriching experience, beginning with the amazing exploration of the legendary rivers at River Safari.”
Ms Liew Chian Jia- Area Director of Singapore Tourism Board.
The River Safari Party was a call to a sneak preview of the iconic rivers and habitats of a variety of animals, from the fresh water fishes to the near-extinct panda bears. With genuine interest in the wellbeing of these animals, Wildlife Reserves Singapore strives to educate visitors on the awareness and importance of wildlife preservation. Joining in with this cause was a special appearance by the dance crew EleColdXhot, who performed an energetic choreography along with the famous song “What Did The Fox Say?,” followed by several other well-known performances.
Two photography contest winners of the evening went home with a pair of exclusive Park Hopper tickets each, allowing them to visit all 4 parks of Wildlife Reserves Singapore for an entire month.
