Stephen King is probably one of the best author out there for everything horror! And this third adaptation of his brilliant 1974 novel “Carrie” is nothing short of thrilling. The film is said to be “less a remake of the 1976 De Palma film and more a re-adaptation of the original text.”
The film stars Chloë Grace Moretz as Carrie White, and Julianne Moore as Carrie’s mother, Margaret White. The movie begins in Ewen High School, Maine, where Carrie is subject to bullying and criticism. She is laughed at in the locker-room by the entire school, as Carrie panics upon seeing herself bleed. Little did she know that it was her first period.
Carrie’s locker-room humiliation at the hands of her female classmates is captured on video and quickly goes viral, setting off a chain of events that will ultimately bring about the story’s climax. Her classmate, Chris Hargensen (Portia Doubleday) is banned from attending Senior prom after this ordeal. Revenge?
Carrie begins to then understand and learns to harness her telekinetic abilities but is frowned upon by her mother, as this the ‘work of the demon.’ While Carrie is busy with her prom preparations, little does she know that there is a plot to humiliate her at the prom.
Will her classmates succeed? Will Carrie have her revenge?
You should definitely catch this one. The movie is directed by Kimberly Peirce and produced by MGM and Screen Gems.
