Its’s true! M.I.A or Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam, the British-Sri Lankan pop star has been in battle for months in a behind-the-scenes suit against pro football (NFL) officials over her Super Bowl XLVI show last year.
Why? Well, the league is upset because during a number with headliner Madonna, M.I.A. raised her middle finger and mouthed, “I don’t give a ****,” remember? They were performing together on stage with Nicki Minaj.
According to sources, the NFL started an arbitration proceeding against the singer for breach of contract and has been seeking $1.5 million in damages.
In response, M.I.A’s lawyer had released this statement.
“The NFL’s claimed reputation for wholesomeness is hilarious, in light of the weekly felonies committed by its stars, the bounties placed by coaches on opposing players, the homophobic and racist comments uttered by its players, the complete disregard for the health of players and the premature deaths that have resulted from same, and the raping of public entities ready to sacrifice public funds to attract teams.”
The NFL has also been in ‘hot soup’ after the controversial performance of Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson. During the performance, Timberlake had ripped off Janet’s upper part of her wardrobe thus exposing her breasts.
The NFL also claimed that the money from this suit will proceed to charity.
