One of Malaysia’s most lovable voices, Ika Kamaruzzaman is back on the airwaves as she joins Capital FM, Malaysia’s only English radio station for women. The vivacious radio veteran is the new hostess with the mostest on Groovedown, a show reserved for relationship talk and designed to be a safe and soulful haven for women.
The mother of a three-year-old has an impressive 12 years experience in radio, having entertained hundred thousands of Malaysians in her last posting. She then took a five year break to focus on her family.
“We are excited that Capital FM has managed to draw such a talented force like Ika back to radio. She is one of the original female gems of the radio industry. Ika’s a professional with lots of work and life experiences, and a woman who has clear priorities. She understands that good music and meaningful conversations make for a winning combination for Groovedown, which is a great way to wind down after a busy day.”
Lynette Ow – General Manager, Capital FM.
Since the show’s debut in December 2011, Groovedown is popular amongst Capital FM fans for its R&B beats and advice columnist format where listeners pour in with their most intimate relationship questions, ranging from trust to co-dependent issues. Here, Ika is more Soul Sister than Agony Aunt, and helps women navigate through taboo topics, social Ps and Qs, and any other delicious issues that make for a good night’s conversation. You just have to bring your own drinks.
“I’m really excited to be part of the Capital FM family. I think it’s a great platform for women. The five-year break I’ve had has given me the opportunity to grow as a woman and I now have a lot more to offer and share.”

With Ika taking on Groovedown, listeners have an added reason to smile every evening. The first two hours of the show is spent focusing on life’s little “Hallmark” joys, where she gets the conversation started by inviting listeners to share their feel-good experiences and memories.
Ika elaborates, “Remember when you went on your first date? Doesn’t that immediately make you warm and fuzzy? That’s the frame of mind we want to put our listeners in to shake off the worries of the day. It’s also about positive affirmations. Then we move on to the second half of the show where listeners can call in with their questions.”
You may catch Ika on Groovedown (Mondays to Fridays, 8pm to 12am) exclusively on Capital FM 88.9
