Elvis Costello and The Roots have teamed up for an anticipated album, “Wise Up Ghost.” Costello claims this isn’t his hip hop album!
Elvis Costello is an English singer-songwriter. He began his career as part of London’s pub rock scene in the early 1970s and later became associated with the first wave of the British new wave movement of the mid-to-late 1970s.
“That would be an easy dismissal, and would be doing the Roots a huge disservice that that’s as far as we would think, just some gimmick.” he said when speaking about the album.
The Roots are an American Grammy Award-winning hip hop/neo soul band, formed in 1987 by Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter and Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.
Indeed, over the course of their 10 studio albums and on Jimmy Fallon’s Show, the Roots have emerged as one of the most versatile acts imaginable.
Elvis on the other hand, is no stranger to working imaginatively with different partners, be it Anne Sofie von Otter or Fall Out Boy.
This new record, will be released through Blue Note in the UK on 16 September 2013 and in the US a day later.
